Your Old Pilot says, "This
is interesting the way your webmaster designed these pages for
you. The wood background effects, above, are from actual MIL-P-6070
mahogany plywood. The rib image is the nose end of a 'Clark Y'
design 'flipped' on itself just behind the forward spar carry-through
to be symmetrical. It's a camera trick, I guess.
"The weathered paint you see under this printing
is from actual doped cotton fabric from one of the airplanes
that landed at the Davis-Monthan Airfield a while back. You're looking
at the outer surface of it, with cracks in the paint exposing the
grey underlayer of aluminum powder mixed with clear dope as a first
coat to prevent sun damage to the cotton fabric underneath. Details,
details...I could go on and on!" |
